  1. 1.What are the procedures for retiring or resigning from a position? 

    Retirements and resignations must be approved by the Board of Education. A

    request should be made in TalentEd Records. Confirmation of the granted                

    approval will be emailed to the individual after the Superintendent

    approves the request. If retiring, please also notify Sandy Garland if you are a certified  

    employee or Michele Nelson if you are a classified employee.


  1. 2. I am taking a leave of absence, what do I need to do?

    Leaves of absence must be approved by the Board of Education. A

    request should be made in TalentEd Records. Confirmation of the granted                

    approval will be emailed to the individual after the Superintendent

    approves the request.


  1. 3. I have applied for a position and have received an email that says, “Completed- needs paraeducator test”.  Do I need to schedule to take this test?  Will some one contact me about this?

    You received this email because this position requires an Associate degree or 2 years        

    college credit. The paraeducator test is only administered to persons that have been    

    recommended by the principal/director for the position.  If you were selected as the person

    chosen for the position, someone from Personnel will contact you to set up a time to pick

    up the study guide and schedule the test.


  1. 4. I have applied for a position and have received an email that says, “Invalid Teaching    

    Credentials or Missing Teaching Certificate”.

    You received this email because you do not have a current KY teaching certificate or did

    not attach it to your application.  Only applicants that have KY certification will be

    considered for a position in McCracken County Schools.  Furthermore, they must be

    certified to teach in the field for which they are applying. Those seeking Alternative

    Certification, must upload the Memorandum of Understanding from the University in

    place of the teaching certificate.  You must have a MOU to be considered for a teaching

    position if seeking Alternative Certification.
